About Paper Chair Workshop

In a one-day impromptu, architecture students of the TU Darmstadt, from the Plastic Design Group, worked on building a chair out of paper.

The students had various forms of paper at their disposal, such as paper tubes, paper yarn or honeycomb sheets in different dimensions. No other materials were allowed to be used, only wood glue or paper tape was allowed to be used to join the chairs.

Within nine hours, a wide variety of designs were created on a scale of 1:1, which were evaluated by Professor Ariel Auslender and Professor Wolfgang Lorch for their construction, statics, aesthetics and functionality.
