A shelter from rain, wind and heat for the tomato plant, which is also made of renewable raw materials and can be recycled after the gardening season?

The Plastic Design Department is currently researching the field of building with paper and had invited people to take part in the impromptu competition. The only condition was the choice of material for the water-bearing layer: vulcanised paper, also known as vulcanised fibre. A horn-like, tough material made from wood pulp and cotton linters, recyclable or even compostable.

The presentation of the tomato houses by the students took place with snacks and cold drinks in the Plasten courtyard.

Now the tomatoes just have to ripen. And with them many more approaches to building with paper…
